Do you know these chairs?

Right before I left on vacation I received an email from a reader asking me about the pair of vintage orange chairs I had purchased for my dining room.  He had recently found a similar pair at an estate sale and wanted to know if I had any additional information about them.

Unfortunately, other than the fact they are from the 1950’s (at least that was what I was told), I know little about these chairs.  I tried doing some internet research but came up empty handed.

I have come across additional pictures of similar chairs but no information about when they were made, who made them or even what they are called.

If you know anything about these types of chairs and are willing to share your knowledge please let me know.  I would be so grateful and I know others would be as well.  Thanks so much!

This is probably a good question to send into one of the magazines, Stacy. You know how you always read {is it in Traditional Home?} where people write in to get more info on something they've purchased or inherited. Seeing yours was the first time I ever saw chairs like this.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about those chairs either, other than they look really cool. =)

Jan Showers is on facebook and I have communicated with her there before so you might try that. If she designed those chairs, she had inspiration from somewhere, right? I just love them! I love how you have left them orange as well! :D

I did a quick internet research and didn't find much either. However, I did see some chairs similar that said "vintage 1960's". Both the 50's and 60's had some of these "swooping" designs in furniture. My guess is that there were several manufacturers who made similar styles. Are there any marks at all on the underside? Sometimes that helps define a piece.
Cute chairs and certainly a "conversation piece" :-)
